Cigra is the brand of Compañia de Insumos y Granos SA, born in 1998 in the southeast of the province of Cordoba, Argentina, and has since expanded to locations throughout the country with 70 employees total. Its mission: “Our passion for the field builds value.” Promoting a spirit of innovation, customer care and companionship “are the pillars of our evolution and our future,” the company says.

The company made key improvements in stewardship over the past year and plans more for the coming year, all of which contributed to its 2016 Argentina Southern Cone regional award win. Some of those improvements included its A-rated deposit program, and incorporating upgraded personal safety features for unloading and loading materials in its warehouse. Continued training of staff — including by a health and safety engineer — and improving agrochemical transportation and signage in accordance with provincial legislation bolster, its approach to environmental respect.

The company is also implementing a traceability system under new regulations enacted by SENASA, Argentina’s National Food and Safety Quality Service agency.

The company has a contingency plan in place adapted to its warehouse to prepare it for any scenario, and facilities are equipped with an alarm system and monitored continuously. Special attention is paid in product distribution to minimize adverse effects on the environment, and merchandise is received only from reputable suppliers.
